“Women, Retirement and the Power in Aging”

As a generation of nearly 78 million, Baby Boomers (individuals born between 1946-1964) have influenced every aspect of American life.  With over three million poised to enter traditional retirement, mature Boomers are likely to continue changing the social landscape. But this time they are rethinking and redefining retirement, altering the views on aging and reassessing the future roles of gender. Women in this generation have made many notable contributions.  At the end of this next decade, these same women will make up a simple majority of this generation and by 2040 there will be two females, 60 and older, for every male counterpart.

Having achieved higher education, more freedom, greater influence in the workplace, and full partnership in human affairs, these women will experience aging and longevity differently than did their mothers and other women in previous generations.  As a growing force of a generation known for affecting change, how will these women change the face of retirement?  Change the view of aging?  How will the virtues of mature women influence our social structure, family dynamics, and communities?  What part of the Grandmother Hypothesis explains the role of this generation of women?

We invite you join us to explore these questions, to examine the goals of women that use the power of aging to make a difference and to discovery your power and your wisdom to create your next life chapter.
