Think retirement is easy? Think again!
For most of us, this transition is the most significant experience working
adults will have. To retire
in 21st century America is very different from that of our
parents' or grandparents’.
The social and economic realities are in motion changing at the speed of
thought. In retirement our
role in the family changes with new responsibilities; we frequently lose
old work friends only to gain new friendships; and we even see ourselves
as different. It should be no
surprise these new realities, intimidating circumstances often leaves us
confused, stressed and frustrated what it take to collect the ‘hard’ won
prize of retirement.
With a closer examination of what it takes to make a successful transition
into retirement we discover seven unique (non-financial) challenges that
needs be overcome. In Lecture/
Workshop #1 we will identify each challenge, discuss what it takes to
succeed, and develop individual strategies to begin the non-financial
retirement process.
Challenge#1: Adjusting Attitudes. Roles and Assumptions
(pre/postretirement)
Challenge#2: Educating and Redefining Ourselves
Challenge#3: Charting Your Life Course with the End in Mind
Challenge#4: Deploying Resources vs. Accumulating Assets
Challenge#5:
Managing the Three R’s
(Relationships, Resources & Responsibilities)
